4 Days / 3 Nights


1rst day :
./Lunch/Diner
Meeting in Pakbeng. After 3h and a half of driving (including several stops) we reach Oudom Xay district. We are here in the centre of North Laos ; the area is a gorgeous mix of green landscapes and mountains view, and a lot of local communities live there.
Arriving and settling down at Muang La Resort. Lunch at the Resort.
Discover the rural life of the village of Pak La implanted around the resort, and walk in the area to admire the panoramic views of the river Nam Pak, the beautiful rice fields and salt mines. You will discover how the people Khamu benefits from the natural surroundings to live. 2 to 3 hours walking. The Muang La site is dominated by the temple "Chiao Pha Kham Sing" which houses a sacred Buddha. According to those responsible for his "protection", it would have appeared there several hundred years on the site of the temple. The temple is a sacred place of pilgrimage. Massage for couple in the outside ‘sala’ close to the river.

2nd day :
Breakfast/Lunch/Diner
Departure in the morning by 4x4 to Pak Khai, a pleasant 15mn transfer through magnificent views of the river Pak Nam, rice terraces and many small villages. Upon arrival, early trek on small green roads where some little rivers flow. The trek will be an opportunity to meet with local farmers working in rice fields and learn how to cultivate their lands, fish and hunt small game. Then you will enter gradually in a primary forest. After 1 hour and a half of walk through the green forest, you arrive at the village of Ban Phavie, a beautiful village Khamu at the top of a hill. The march resumed after lunch to reach fresh waterfalls. You relax in the clear water cascades lulled by the light breeze and the calm of the places (if the weather permitting)
Around 14:30 you should back up the path resort where you arrive in the afternoon (17:30). At the end of the day, when the sun goes down, we will take you to a great sunset desk to admire the picture while drinking a glass of champagne…

3rd day :
Breakfast/Lunch/Diner
Departure around 8 :30 am. In 4x4 you will take a very nice road along the river Nam Phak to meet 2 villages Ikhos : one of the most remote parts of Laos local communities, from Yunnan and Tibet. In their mountain villages, the houses are made of wood and bamboo ; you will discover their way of life : their beliefs in the spirit world whose religion is lived every day and not particularly in a place dedicated to it. You will also see the unique way that they have to dye their clothes with dyes from plants.
A half-day out of time, undoubtedly unforgettable!
Lunch at the Resort.
Free afternoon.
By the end of the afternoon, you will assist to a traditional ceremony : The Baci. This ceremony unable people to recall their souls and link them to the body. In a room bringing together family and relatives, an altar of flowers is drawn up. From this altar radiate cotton wire symbolizing ties with the world of souls; cakes, fruits, alcohol, incense sticks, candles, silver are also there to encourage souls to return home. A wise old man has been chosen as the officiating ; surrounded by family and invited he will first light the 4 candles placed at the top of the altar and pray the gods. In meditation and using ritual formulas, the wise man will urge the 32 souls to return to their original habitat and to come to profit from the offerings.
Lastly, the wishes will be expressed and it is in a merry and animated environment that the cotton wire will be fixed on the wrists of the people present to retain the returned hearts. Celebrates and population in jubilation will finish this ceremony.
The ceremony will be followed by a meal at the owner's house in a typical Lao House. This traditional meal shared with your hosts will be enlivened with local cider : Lao Hay.
Night at the Resort.

4th day :
Breakfast/Lunch/.
Departure around 8:30 in the morning by 4x4 to Muang Khua. We will first follow the main road to Phongsaly, through nice hills which ended in Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam. Your way will drive you along the Nam Pak river, where women in colourful clothes are still practising the gold washing. Arriving in Muang Khua by the end of the morning. Around 2H30 after leaving the Muang La Resort, you arrive at Muang Khua where you start a beautiful cruise. This descent river, from Muang Khua to Nong Khiaw, is undoubtedly the most beautiful of the region ! It allows you, in a nice private boat, to discover many villages and beautiful landscapes whose karts formations rise majestically from the water. You will arrive around 5h30 pm to close this pleasant cruise. Lunch picnic with barbecues on the beach.
