In the heart of a luxuriant garden, 3 wooden villas of ethnic design, offer 2 rooms of the highest quality and comfort. Each room has its own special ambience and all ooze tranquility in a wonderfully scented atmosphere emanating from local oils used to treat the wood. The ubiquitous gardens exude wonderful scents and colours throughout the resort and also offer intimate corners designed to help your rest & relaxation. In one corner of the gardens, and offering an unspoiled view of the river and forests, a natural spa gives the perfect way to unwind. Through wisps of steam, a wonderful panorama is unveiled before you and only a chilled glass of champagne will disturb the complete tranquility. This wonderful experience can be prolonged in the traditional candle-lit Lao sauna where steam is scented with natural herbs and grasses - a truly relaxing experience.
If all this relaxation is too much, then Muang La Resort also offers a wide choice of excursions, on foot or bicycle or 4x4 to explore the local area and meet its people.

In the evening, the Resort is bathed in light from torches and candles in its gardens to give you a marvellous evening " under the stars" … You can take a table where you prefer, in the lush garden, on the terrace, or on a small island in the centre of the river, opposite the resort. Rivers, mountains & forests both fashion and colour the landscapes of Laos. Nestling in these wonderful panoramas, the small villages of the many ethnic groups contrast with the towns and their richly gilded temples and traditional pagodas. It is within this enchanted setting of forests and rice plantations, well away from the tourist trail, that Muang La Resort is located. Built with the help of local craftsman and using only traditional techniques, the hotel borders the small village of Muang. With only a few hundred inhabitants, Muang is made up of plains people and mountain tribes. On the sides of the valley, an old and famous Buddhist temple brings an air of spirituality to this place of complete relaxation.
Situated 40 minutes drive from the local airport at Oudom Xay, the Resort is easily reached by plane. However, we would recommend coming from Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Laos, which is well worth taking the time to visit. This provincial town has superb architecture, vestiges of the French colonial period, and no less than 65 pagodas recognized for their rare beauty. In the future, Khowan hopes to offer a charming colonial house of 15 rooms in Luang Prabang. The journey to Muang La Resort takes 4 to 5 hours by road.
This pleasant journey through changing landscape starts in the plains skirting the river and then continues in the mountains, passing through the traditional villages.
